One mesh is created for each material present in the imported model.
Each mesh is named after its material in the original model.
This name is what will hold the link at next update
The Mz Link Manager consists of one helper plugin holding the meshes and one graphical interface giving control over all its instances in the scene
Since Archicad 27 you can export in .FBX. Choose"One mesh per surface".
For older versions use preferably .OBJ. Choose 1000mm as the unit.
We recommend setting up views to save you time when exporting.
Export to .FBX
We recommend setting up views to save time when exporting.
Convert materials to standard materials in case you don't use a render compatible with Autodesk materials
Use the "Material Converter" toolbar at the bottom
Export to .OBJ
You can also export to .SKP but you will export the whole model, which is not always what you need.
We recommend setting up scenes to save time when exporting.
Export to .OBJ, with "Polygon mesh" and "meter" as options:
Depending on your setup you might want to link by layers instead of materials, in this case check "Layers" in the import options.
Export to .DWG.
Select the right units when creating the link in the MLM.
To help you get started we will go through these chapters:
Download
Drag'n drop the .mzp file into the 3dsMax Viewport
Follow the instructions
Click "Mirza Link Manager" in the Mirza menu inside the Tools menu of 3dsMax.
You can also create a toolbar and add a button for the MLM, or add it to an existing toolbar.
The first launch you will be asked to register :
Select the software it is coming from. This helps optimizing the import and keep track of where the links originates from.
Hit "Create a link", then choose the file.
The new link appears in the list at the top of the window.
You can now apply materials to theses meshes.
You can also add modifiers like UVW maps, Xform to move them, Shell or Chamfer for example, all modifiers will be retained.
If you change the object properties they will also be retained at next update, and the same goes if they are part of a selection set.
When a new export from the original CAD/BIM software has been created (aka the original linked files is overwritten) the link will appear yellow, meaning that an update is available.
You can update all outdated links at once or select and update them individually
In the Links list at the top you can
Use the "Clone" links button in order to :
Use the "Reference" menu in order to :
Use the "Merge into" button in order to :
Once you have registered the computer one license is binded to it.
If you need this license on another computer you'll have to free it either:
To use the online dashboard you must first register as a user using the same email adress as the subscription.
Every mesh in the link is named after the material's name in the original model.
This name is what is holding the link between updates.
For example if you have one material called "Concrete_light" in Revit you will have one mesh called "Concrete_light" in 3dsMax. All work applied to it in 3dsMax will be subsequently applied to the new "Concrete_light" mesh after next update.
FBX is very good, if it is available for you version of your CAD or BIM software. ".Obj" (Maya) is also very efficient, just make sure to use meter as the unit (or 1000 mm).
